June 18 Lake Ontario troll - with VIDEO

Well this report is a couple days late because I have been busy and tired from work but on the 18th I had to the chance to head out on the big lake. We had planned to meet at 5am at my house but change of plans due to the weather. It was pouring! We didn't fancy the idea of being in the rain, especially with the fact that my boat is not equipped with any kind of top. So after checking the weather radar, we knew the rain was about to stop shortly. After meeting up for breakfast at McDonald's, we were off to the races.

We finally arrived on the water at about 8am. We started in 80 FOW, plenty of bait balls and hooks but no takers. We had two riggers down and two dipseys out.

Our first fish came in at 11am, 75ft down in approx 170FOW.  It hit a MC rocket with spin doctor combo. It was my buddy's first time out trolling for fish on Lake Ontario. So we gave him the honors the first fish. It was a very nice sized rainbow!

Here is a VIDEO of the fish! Enjoy it in HD!!

At 11:30am, the mooching reel goes off. The first fish ever on a mooching reel, ho exciting! it ended to be a small rainbow trout. It was on a northern king, about 50ft down. At noon we got our third hit on the rigger, unfortunately it came off after the line released from the downrigger clip.
