VIDEO Ice fishing lake trout #1
Here was a video made of a lake trout caught on lake Simcoe during the month of February this year.
Caught on a bucktail in 88 FOW. While fighting this fish, another fish came up to look at my set line but didn't take it.

VIDEO! First ice perch ice fishing!
December 17th 2013 was the first trip of the ice fishing season for me.
We headed to Lake Simcoe to search for some perch and boy did we find perch. Not many bigguns but it was a busy full day of fishing for us.

Walleye fishing December 3 2013
Finally!
After almost two years, I headed back to Lake Ontario for fall walleye. I haven't been out on the boat for about 3-4 months so I had alot to prep the previous night. So much so that I didn't get to sleep.
This was my first walleye trip and probably last boat trip of the year. This was also my opportunity to winterize the motor in the water. Thank god for Etec's super easy winterizing feature on the motor, takes about 1 minute at the ramp.
Well plans were made. Three friends were to come along in this journey in search of Gold on Tuesday December 3rd 2013. Evan and Jacky were to meet at my place to load everything by 3:20 and meet Lincoln out in Bowmanville at 4. We were a tad late since we had to pump some air in the vehicle and to double check the trailer tires.
After meeting with Lincoln, we were off to the races. Thought of checking out the Deseronto ramp, we skipped it and headed towards the ferry launch. The ferry was to be departing at 6:30, we were at harbour of the town at 6:25 and knew we weren't going to make it so we took a peek at the water conditions inside the bay. It wasn't water, it was ice, as we were told. Onwards towards the ferry we went.
Once we got on the ferry, we saw atleast 3 boats launch and headed towards the reach. We followed suit.
While heading to a destination to start out troll, we saw a fish being netted. I thought, "let's start here!".
Our operation was 4 planer boards out, 3 rods on the riggers and 1 rod rod down the chute.
It didn't take long for the first fish to hit. Sadly it was a short strike, it couldn't stay on long enough for us to even grab the rod.
Not discouraged, we continued putting long at 1.5-1.9 mph in the rare flat calm waters.
First fish that came in was about 9lb that Evan landed. He was all smiles as this was his PB walleye, never having caught such big walleyes.
Up next was Jacky, and then me, and then Lincoln. it was a triple header!

After going towards the east for another 30 minutes without much action, we decided to swing back around to the same spot where the flurry of action came from. As soon as we got around the same area, we had another double header. Well triple if you count the KAYAK that we trolled past that also hit a fish at the same time..

After another hour of trolling, I couldn't take it anymore. I had to take a nap. I passed out on my front deck and had let someone else man the boat. I slept for about an hour and there was no action.
I started up the main engine and headed towards the cement plant to try jigging in front. That was not available due to this...
So we went back to an area that was free of ice so we could try our luck at jigging. Sadly no eyes were pulled out, however a few other items were..
It was getting late, the sun was heading down. I wanted to head back to the dock to do my 1 minute winterizing and before the other boats crowded the launch. Back we went right before 5 other boats came back.
All of our action walleye action came before noon. It was fun to get back out there again on the boat and for some walleyes.

Fall fishing for salmon and trout
Well I've been gone from posting for the past few months because I've been occupied with river fishing. I don't tend to post much info and pictures online so that it doesn't ruin the fishing spot. I'm sure many will recognize the spots I fish but I prefer to keep it on the down low.
For this fall season I did pick up a new reel, a Kingpin Zeppelin. Its a very nice real. Been super happy with it.
